Coquitlam RCMP is reminding motorists as we move into the autumn months to continue safe driving practices.
Police in Coquitlam continue to use High Visibility Enforcement (HVE) to target unlawful driving behaviour within designated HAZE areas. The focus for the autumn months is Back-to-School safety and distracted driving.

Distracted driving is preventable, said Staff Sergeant Mark McCutcheon, Coquitlam RCMP’s Traffic Services Commander. It’s shocking the amount of drivers that are still attempting to drive while using a mobile device. You may think that no one will notice, but we notice.

It’s shocking the amount of drivers that are still attempting to drive while using a mobile device. You may think that no one will notice, but we notice.
Anytime a driver is holding a device in their hand, or when they take their eyes off the road to manipulate buttons on that device, it is considered distracted driving. This can cost motorists a fine of $368 under the Motor Vehicle Act.
